JIM PROKELL
Award-winning, Pittsburgh-based Artist
Designer, illustrator, and fine artist, Jim Prokell is a master of the visual arts, earning more than 100 regional, national and international awards. His oil paintings, watercolors, and sculptures are on display in private, public, and corporate collections, and his commercial clients include Fortune 100 corporations, first-tier accounting, and law firms, universities, professional sports teams, and major local events.
A seasoned creative director, art director, and businessman, Jim is president and owner of Jim Prokell Studio, a graphic design, marketing, illustration, sculpture, and portraiture firm that has been in continuous operation for more than 30 years. He is also a former instructor in the University of Pittsburgh’s Studio Arts Department and at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and a teacher of graphic design, illustration, painting, and drawing.
As a past director of The Pittsburgh Children’s Festival, he was instrumental in bringing an International Children’s Theatre Festival to the city, and in establishing Special Olympics, Pittsburgh. Jim is a graduate of Edinboro University, where he maintained a full scholarship while distinguishing himself on the basketball court. He was inducted into the university’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998 and had been drafted by the NBA in 1972.
